Britain's rich heritage of windmills will be celebrated in the upcoming months.

National Mills Weekend, set for June 11 and 12, puts the spotlight on these historic structures.

Windmills and watermills, including those in Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire, will open their doors for public visits, often at no charge or for a small charity donation.

The highlight for residents of Ledbury is nearby Clencher's Mill in Eastnor.

Other Herefordshire mills include Clodock Mill and "a cluster of others" near the Black Mountains, as well as Mordiford Mill.

In addition to the county's offerings, some 20 mills will be open over the weekend across other counties.

Notable among them is the café in Ludlow, dubbed Mill on the Green, which uses the force of a modern waterwheel to produce power.

For a detailed list of participating mills and the specific opening hours, the organisers have directed interested parties to the webpage www.midlandmills.org.uk under the "National Mills Weekend" section.
